Stephanie Cramer, a distinguished artist and art educator, has significantly influenced the art scenes of Missouri and New England. Born in 1960 in Kansas City, Kansas, Stephanie developed an early passion for color and gesture, which has become a hallmark of her work. Her artistic journey has led her to showcase and sell her paintings and monotypes both privately and in galleries across Maine, Massachusetts, and Missouri. 

Stephanie's artistic style is deeply rooted in her fascination with color and gesture, with a focus of capturing figures in motion. Stephanie intends to provide a "glimpse, or a snapshot before the gesture is complete," emphasizing the emotional intensity of the moment rather than striving for exact representation. This approach seeks to provoke a sense of tension and curiosity in the viewer. 

Her creative process is highly intuitive and immersive. Stephanie begins with a spontaneous gesture, allowing her instincts to guide the development of the piece. She describes herself as becoming "untethered" during painting, losing herself in an imaginary world where she leans into the process without predetermined plans. This method allows her to look to the past while moving forward, embracing flexibility and adaptability in her work. 

Stephanie's work has been described as posessing, "a dark sensibility occasionally struck by light, like the glory of an electrical storm." This characterization underscores the dynamic interplay of light and shadow, color and form in her compositions, reflecting the depth and complexity of human experience. Through her expressive use of color, dynamic gestures, and incorporation of historical materials, Stephanie's art invites viewers into a world where emotion and memory converge, encouraging personal reflection and connection. 

Stephanie has had her art featured on the cover of a publication by Harvard University Press as well as had her work featured at the Springfield's premiere Hotel Vandivort.
