Stadiums + Event Centers
ART CONSULTING + PROJECTS
With stadium settings it's critical to install art that cannot be ignored, is tamper-proof, and electrifying—which we do each time.
Arrowhead Stadium
This historic stadium was extensively renovated in 2012, at which time we approached owner Clark Hunt about an art collection for the structure. He loved the idea, we formed an art committee, including curators from the Nelson-Atkins Museum, and sent out our Call for Artists. The resulting works tell a dramatic story. Two of our favorites are the Prairiefire painting by Louis Copt and the large ceramic head by Jun Kaneko. Patrick Mahomes loves the collection!
National Soccer Hall of Fame
This structure, located in the Dallas area, was completed in 2018. Their execs approached us about creating something iconic for the front plaza. We all agreed than an interpretation of the Pele bicycle kick would be stunning, the question was how to make it unique. This finished piece by Jacob Burmood is the result. We borrowed from Art Deco design in devising the concept.
Texas A&M
This hallowed institution didn't want contemporary art when they renovated Kyle Field. They wanted formal portraits, football scenes, and landscapes of the campus. So we chose William Rose, Gary Bowling, and Louis Copt to create the paintings, working with them on approach and concept. William also did a portrait of President H.W. Bush for the Bush School of Government.
Kauffman Stadium
Unlike Arrowhead, which houses a contemporary collection, with Kauffman we were asked to focus on the world of baseball. The mural of their 2015 World Series victory, by William Rose, has become iconic over the years. The same is true of all the other paintings. Now that they'll be building a new stadium downtown, we wonder what we might do there?
T-Mobile Center
In 2006 the University of Kansas Hospital approached us about doing something huge and stunning for this event center. They wanted it to draw attention to their own signage there. No problem. We concluded that 300 blown-glass plates, installed in a helix shape, would do the trick. Everyone loves it, including the Who, Lady Gaga, Garth Brooks...glass by Drew Hine.
Bill Snyder Stadium
When this stadium was rebuilt in 2013, Kansas State University came to us about creating a monument of Bill Snyder for the west entrance. We chose Spencer Schubert to do the sculpting. Bill Snyder psoed for us unwillingly, feeling he should be deceased before a monument was created. We disagreed and installed this piece in 2014. The alumni love it.
